A Note on Double Entry

Students may double enter in one speech event and debate or in two speech events, but no one may double enter who is participating in Student congress.

Lincoln Douglas Debate (JV & Varsity)

The resolution will be the January/February NFL national resolution and we will use standard NFL rules. Debaters will be given 5 minutes of prep time in addition to the 3 minutes traditionally allocated for cross-examination. These 8 minutes may be used as “flex prep” - time available for asking questions or preparing for the next speech.

This year’s finalists in LD Debate will receive a bid to the Debate Tournament of Champions!

Public Forum Debate

There will be a single, open division of public forum debate. We will follow all of the NFL rules for the event as they stand for the start of the school year. The tournament will be using the NFL topic for January, 2008. Ties will be broken using the same criteria as Lincoln-Douglas Debate. The event will likely break to quarterfinals or octafinals depending on entry size.

Student Congress

Operating procedures will depend upon the number of entries. A super session will be held on Sunday morning composed of the top speakers from Saturday’s sessions. Please submit all congress bills to columbia@tabroom.com by January 17, 2008.

There will be NO double entry between debate, student congress and speech categories. Speech Events Double entry between speech events is allowed.
